Sandis Ozolinsh had a superstition about talking to reporters on game day. He tried to avoid them as much as possible, especially during the playoffs.
So one day he switched his nameplate with Alexei Smirnov's and kept his head down while removing his equipment. Since most of the media that covered the finals couldn't tell him from Smirnov, it was a pretty smart move.
Only one reporter tried to approach Ozolinsh. "Sandis what's up with this?" the reporter asked, pointing at the switched nameplates.
"Hey, I'm Alexei."
